Oh my God. A dead dugong

Oh, my God. A 7.5-foot long dugong (Dugong dugon) was found dead Thursday morning in Mati City, Davao Oriental.

Dead.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has yet to determine the cause of death but they say the dugong died at around 3 a.m. Thursday.

The dead dugong has been brought to the Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology for necropsy.

Come on, pal. Show some respect.

Rep. Singson: guilty but not

It was probably not smart of Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson
to admit on national TV that his son, Ilocos Sur Representative Ronald Singson, is only pleading guilty to drug possession as a “legal strategy.

Hong Kong, where the younger Singson was arrested for allegedly bringing in cocaine and sleeping pills, may be a distant land
reachable only after several months of dangerous sea travel,
but the news will eventually get there.

Or you could take a plane

Rep. Singson admitting in court that the drugs were for his own use
while his father insists on TV that he’s not really guilty of
anything sends conflicting messages.

Then again, he could cop to possession of the sleeping pills
but not the cocaine, turning him from a bad-ass suspected smuggler
to a yuppie with issues.

The elder Singson said his son was framed, and that the drugs
were only handed to him (by some guy). Which deserves the
question: How high do you have to be to accept an unidentified substance
from an unknown person on an airplane in a post-9/11 world?

Expel a congressman for drug possession? It depends

Ilocos Sur Representative Ronald Singson could lose
his seat in congress if convicted for drug trafficking
charges in Hong Kong.

Pleading guilty to simple possession might make his colleagues
at the House of Representatives more forgiving, though.

Jake Cuenca as Hubert Webb

Further in the rape of sensibility, actor Jake Cuenca has expressed
interest in playing Hubert Webb, recently acquitted for the Vizconde Massacre,in a movie or TV project.

Of course, I’d like to do it because it’s an interesting role. Syempre yung Vizconde massacre eh magandang bigyang buhay yun
kasi may awareness dun sa nangyari eh, (Of course, it would be good
to recreate the Vizconde Massacre because there’s awareness
about what happened)” he said.

No such awareness, though, on how much in bad taste massacre movies are.

No PH troop deployment to South Korea

The Armed Forces of the Philippines will not be sending troops to South Korea over tensions in the Korean peninsula.

According to Malacanang spokesman Edwin Lacierda, South Korea has not
asked for military assistance.

Also, he said, “we have to be realistic about our capability.”

"I mean, seriously, guys..."

The Philippines sent troops to Korea during the Korean War and gained distinction on the battlefield.

If the AFP does send troops to South Korea again, it will be the second time for the Philippine Army as an institution and for some of its equipment.
