Who better to lead the country after 2010 than someone with a mandate for greatness in his blood? Who better to say that yes, the Philippines can be great again? Who can command the devotion and loyalty of entire provinces based merely on his political pedigree?
Why, Ilocos Rep. Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos, Jr., of course.
With both parents prominent in national politics during the Marcos regime (being, in fact, the Marcos regime) surely, the fruit cannot fall far from the tree? That, at least, is what his mother former First Lady Imelda Marcos who has been “practically pushing him to run for a higher office” reckons.
Which makes sense, I guess. After all, both Bong Bong and Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III carry their fathers’ names, and the attendant shoes that have to be filled. Both have silly nicknames, and both have served in local politics. Imelda is also sort of like Pres. Corazon Aquino in that she is also a widow. That’s pretty much it, I guess. But still, if Sen. Aquino can cash in on People Power nostalgia, then Bong Bong should be able to as well.
